Freemotion Portraits

Unleash your creativity with Free-Motion Portraits in this exciting two-part class! Whether you’re a seasoned sewist or a beginner, this class will teach you how to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind fabric portraits using free-motion quilting techniques.
Part 1: Creating Your Portrait in Black and White
In the first class, you'll start by drawing your portrait and using free-motion stitching to outline and define the features. You’ll focus on creating a detailed, high-contrast image in black and white fabrics, emphasizing shadows and lines with thread work. This part of the class will help you develop control over your machine and get comfortable with free-motion quilting.
Part 2: Adding Fabric Layers for Dimension & Shading
In the second class, you’ll take your portrait to the next level by adding fabric layers to create depth and shading. You’ll learn how to incorporate different textures, colors, and fabrics to add dimension to your portrait, enhancing facial features and bringing your design to life. By the end, you'll have a finished portrait that’s rich in detail and full of fabric artistry!
