Byrne Sewing (originally named Byrne Sewing Connection) was founded in 1979 by Mike and Debbie Byrne. They have spent over 40 years building, growing, and fostering a community of sewists. In December of 2021, they decided to retire and pass on their legacy to me.
I’m Jess Kook-Whitley, I started working for Debbie when I was only 13 years old, many of you may have seen me in passing throughout these many years while you picked out fabrics and notions or brought your machine in for servicing. When the time came for higher education my passions for fabrics and creation led me to attend college for fashion design. It was after graduating and returning to Byrne to work with Debbie that I realized my love for all things business and retail. Most days you could find me walking around the store, cutting fabrics, or answering the phone. In the years that have passed since college, I have married my amazing husband Brandon and we had a daughter, Caroline. Those two are my whole world and my biggest supporters, outside of the sewing world of course!
I know my beliefs and morals are aligned with the same ones Debbie and Mike utilized and held in the decades spent building Byrne into the business we know and love today. I plan to continue on with the same foundational pillars; Creating lifelong friendships with customers, providing superior care and knowledge, housing all your cherished brands (Bernina, Brother, Babylock, and Juki), and most importantly being the place where our community can come together to continue to grow their skills, nurture their passions and discover their untapped potential.
I have big dreams and goals for the sewing community especially as we all have watched it evolve throughout the years. I know with your help our amazing sewing hub will continue to flourish.
