Q1 Beginner Quilting

Have you been wanting to learn to quilt? This is the class for you! Emphasis will be on rotary cutting and precision machine piecing using the newest techniques and tools. The use of short cut tips and trade tricks will allow you to complete a beautiful sampler top by the end of this class. Additionally, there will be discussion on quilt finishing: batting selection, basting, tying and quilting. A sewing machine is required ONLY at home.

Q2 "SEW" RELAXING

Join us as we open one of our classrooms up to anyone who wants to come in and sew or quilt or whatever. You'll have a place to spread out and work to your heart's content - away from the phone and other distractions of home. The coffee's always on so bring your projects...and a friend or two and lunch and we'll provide the space and any number of folks to offer an opinion or advice on your current project! And...as we envision this...we might just throw in some informal tips, techniques or sneak peeks at upcoming cool stuff. "Sew," come kick back and spend a relaxing day (or part thereof!) and stitch away! Limited seating - call early to reserve your spot!

Q4 BYE BYE TO BINDING BLUES

Q5 MACHINE QUILTING

Okay, the quilt top is done…what do you do now? We'll talk about layering your quilt and basting, planning your quilting patterns, choosing threads and then finally, using your free-motion skills and/or BSR to execute some simple quilting patterns. Beginners will feel more comfortable after taking this techniques class, which is lecture demo and hands on.

Q6 STRIP QUILTING - SEMINOLE AND MORE

With the increased availability of portable sewing machines at the end of the 19th century, the Seminole Indians of Florida interpreted many of their traditional designs in fabric with a method that involved sewing strips together, and cutting and resewing them to create intricate patterns. You'll combine these techniques along with other strip piecing methods including curved piecing into a quilt top, and discuss some machine quilting techniques. This quilt is suitable for all levels of quilters.

Q9 NEW YORK BEAUTY

The New York Beauty pattern was first documented back in the 1850s, and was always considered a pattern for only the most advanced quilter. Recently, this pattern has gained new popularity through the use of foundation piecing to make this a much easier block to create. Additionally, the use of this block in striking contemporary settings has led to a renewed interest. Let Sarah show you the basics of paper piecing and how you can create this incredible beauty. S14 Friday Night Sew-A-Thon

Come on out and join us for a night of uninterrupted quilting with friends. Bring along the UFO of your choice, or start something new and know that you have some concentrated stitching time to really accomplish something. We're here to help you with any rough spots or fabric selection or whatever you need. Sew...join us for pizza and goodies and a few laughs as well!

Q15 Basic Thread Painting

Join Joyce and see how much fun it is to take a large floral panel and turn it into a work of art! Learn the tips and techniques such as free motion quilting, bobbin work and fringing to turn something simple into something magnificent. You can do this!!! This class will include thread selection, stitching techniques and embellishing. Class is open to anyone who has a solid working knowledge of their machine. This is a great way to put your BSR to use, but is absolutely not necessary to take the class!
